We at the Athens-McMinn Family YMCA feel strongly that income should not be a barrier to becoming a member of the Y or participating in any of our programs, provided there is registration space available in a given program. The Y recognizes that some individuals and families struggle to pay the rent, put food on the table and buy clothes for their kids due to unforeseen circumstances. They need financial assistance to come to the Y, to stay healthy, to be active and to thrive in life.

Therefore, thanks in large part to the United Way of McMinn and Meigs County and our Annual Campaign, we aim to offer financial support to anyone in our community whose income doesn’t allow for membership, swim lessons, youth spots, camp, preschool, after school care, and so much more. Through the annual campaign, we make sure that our doors are open to all. Donor support helps thousands of youth and families live healthier and happier lives. They do better in school. They manage their illnesses. And kids get a good square meal!

Anyone can apply to receive 12-month financial assistance through this program. Eligibility for assistance and the amount of financial support that can be given is determined on an individual basis. Participants must reapply on the 12th month to continue the assistance if applicable. Membership fees will come out of your account the 13th month at the full amount if an application for the next 12 months is not filed and approved beforehand.

Financial assistance may be used for either membership or a program. We will review your application and any of the financial documentation that you provide. Please see the application for a list of pertinent documents.

If you are interested in filing for financial assistance, click on the link below to print the application. Once completed, return the form to the Front Desk along with the required documentation. Within two weeks of receiving your completed application and required documentation, we will contact you to let you know the outcome of your application.

Financial support through our assistance program is valid for a maximum of one year, and at that time you will need to reapply with updated financial documentation.
