EVENING & WEEKEND MEMBER SERVICES ASSOCIATE

Shifts available: weekdays 4pm-9pm, Saturdays 7:30am-5pm (with a break or broken into two shifts with a co-worker), Sundays 12:45pm-5pm.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
1. Be on time, ready to start work at Welcome Center at beginning of your shift, dressed in uniform and name tag, no matter the weather.
2. Answer phone calls and responds to general questions or direct to appropriate department.
3. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention. This includes creating membership units, program registration, and more.
4. Conduct Cause-Driven Tours responsive to the needs of prospective members
5. Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers and members and helps members connect with one another and the Y
6. Maintains cleanliness of the lobby areas, the coffee station, front desk work space, and back office supply room
7. Serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting members, and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community
8. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs appropriate leadership of unusual situations or unresolved issues
9. May help in monitoring locker room cleanliness and safety.
10. May be assigned other duties and be requested to attend check-in meetings or staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous customer service, sales or related experience preferred.
  • Minimum age of 18 (eighteen)
  • Child Abuse Prevention training and CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Basic knowledge of computers, Microsoft 365, and Office products including excel.
  • Ability to learn and be proficient in customer service database software.

CERTIFIED LIFEGUARD

Shifts available: all shifts ranging from 5:30am to 8:00pm on weekdays, 7:45am-4pm on Saturdays, 12:45pm-4pm on Sundays

POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Lifeguard at the Athens-McMinn Family YMCA creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area. 2. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model; completes related reports as required. 3. Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner. 4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. 5. Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others. 6. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code. 7. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed. 8. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving. 9. Performs opening and closing cleaning responsibilities. 10. Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum age of 15 • Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard or equivalent • Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness • Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards

CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER

Shifts available: late afternoons and early evenings, weekends as scheduled between the client and trainer
