Come See Our Y

You'll Love It!
The Y’s mission is our reason for being, and the Y’s cause is our mission in action—a promise to do everything in our power to inspire the common good and make life better for individuals, families and communities. We've made a difference in people's lives since the formation of the Athens-McMinn Family YMCA in 1955 when a small room located on Tennessee Wesleyan College was formed. In 1975, this facility was opened and was expanded in 1989 to include the Mayfield Group Exercise Wing and the Raquetball Court. Our YMCA has undergone several renovations throughout the years which holds the only indoor aquatics center in McMinn County, Childwatch area, community-focused lobby areas, and a brand new weight room which was completed in 2016. Our weight room holds all state of the art Matrix weights and strength training equipment. As of 2017, the Athens-McMinn Family YMCA serves more than 7,500 people in our community through membership and programs. At the core of the families we serve is our mission -- to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. We strive to teach integrity, responsibility, honesty and respect in everything we do. These are our core principles for our efforts to build strong kids, strong families and a strong community for all.
