As the situation with COVID-19 and other illness such as the flu, strep throat, and more continues to unfold across the state and country, we want to offer up-to-date information about how our Y is responding in this constantly changing situation. We ask for patience and understanding in advance, because this situation is among the most frequently changing we’ve ever experienced, even nearly 24 months out from the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. As always, our interest is in preserving the health and well-being of our members, staff and the communities we serve.

HELP US KEEP ONE ANOTHER HEALTHY

While the CDC and World Health Organization report most infected individuals experience only mild symptoms and recover fully, members are encouraged to protect themselves and others through good hygiene practices:

  • Wash hands frequently, for at least 20 seconds. This will kill the virus on your hands and prevent its spread.
  • Face masks are encouraged and highly recommended to be worn by the CDC.
  • Utilize the hand sanitizer available throughout the building before and after using equipment or touching other surfaces like doorknobs, countertops, etc.
  • Use the cleaner provided to wipe down equipment by spraying your paper towel before and after use. It is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency for its effectiveness in killing COVID-19.
  • Use a tissue and dispose of it if you have a runny nose.
  • Cough into the crook of your elbow instead of your hands.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Practice social distancing by maintain 3 feet between yourself and others.
  • If you don’t feel well, please stay home.

FOLLOWING THE GUIDANCE OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS:

We are staying up to date with the local and Tennessee State Health Department recommendations. We are monitoring those updates for any changes in recommendations for individuals, businesses and organizations. In addition to the guidance we’ve already provided about good personal hygiene and staying home if you don’t feel well:

  • Members are encouraged to change up their workout times to times of low traffic (i.e. around 10am to 12pm weekdays, 1pm to 3pm weekdays, and after 730pm). This can increase your chances of physically distancing from others while exercising.
  • Hand sanitation stations are available in multiple areas of our facility.
  • Most importantly, we’re asking staff and members to care for themselves and the community by staying home if they are feeling even the slightest bit unwell.
